Pacific Life is seeking an Underwriting Managing Director for its Consumer Markets Division, leading a team of Underwriters in a 100% remote role. You will evaluate applications, balance risk, and influence underwriting strategy while driving growth and collaboration with distribution partners.

The position emphasizes people leadership, advanced underwriting expertise, and ongoing development opportunities within a transforming toolset.

Qualifications

• 10-12+ years of life insurance underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of team management in underwriting.
• Authority to handle up to $15M without a co-signature.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; build internal and external relationships.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate information for others and guide decisions.
• Ability to set goals, plan, and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Wing-to-wing underwriting decisions using upfront data and tools.
• Coach and develop Underwriting Consultants and Senior Consultants.
• Handle additional underwriting requirements and perform risk selection.
• Finalize cases and perform second-sign duties as needed.
• Demonstrate dependability, organization, and adherence to schedules and standards.
