Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor to join a remote team serving the continental US. You will conduct detailed audits of underwriting initiatives, evaluate decision quality, and provide actionable insights to align pricing, mortality assumptions, and regulatory requirements.

The role collaborates with Underwriting, Risk, Training, and Innovation teams to drive CAPs, governance improvements, and targeted training, while maintaining rigorous audit documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of life underwriting experience with medical and financial underwriting.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products, underwriting guidelines, and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify patterns in audit findings.
• Strong written and verbal communication for presenting findings to leadership.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Perform post-issue audits of underwriting initiatives for technical accuracy.
• Review medical, financial, and operational underwriting decisions.
• Identify trends and prepare structured reports for management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and Risk to monitor CAPs and remediation progress.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework and governance standards.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications.
• Provide input into innovation initiatives by testing impact on underwriting quality.
• Assist with design and execution of targeted audits for underwriting innovation.
• Ensure audit documentation is complete and suitable for regulatory review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit frameworks and metrics.
