Job summary

Adjuvant Behavioral Health in Texas is seeking an empathetic licensed mental health professional to support cancer patients and families through counseling. The role emphasizes hope, change, and collaborative care within a busy clinic.

You will conduct individual and family sessions, develop SMART treatment plans, maintain records, and coordinate with other staff to ensure timely referral and ongoing assessment, with a minimum 18 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in counseling or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of professional level experience in a counselor setting.
• Current and active license to practice behavioral health in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients individually and/or within family sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.
• Make internal referrals to IOP if little to no improvement occurs within 8 weeks of OP therapy.
• Guide clients in developing skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.
• Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience, establishing SMART goals; plans developed 72 hours after intake and updated every 4 weeks.
• Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including diagnostic records and progress notes; progress notes developed 48 hours after every session.
• Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
• Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information.
• Collaborate with other staff to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans within 2 days of establishing care.
• Refer patients to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
• Stay updated on new developments in counseling by reading literature, attending courses and seminars, and maintaining contact with social service agencies.

Role:

Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the mission of the clinic, a therapist will seek to facilitate hope and change in the lives of their clients who have been affected by cancer. A therapist is responsible for accepting referrals and maintaining a client load (minimum 18 hours per week).
