Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an EAP Specialist to perform telephonic behavioral health assessments and provide solution-focused consultations. The role includes risk screening, crisis coordination, and referrals, with a strong emphasis on documentation and collaboration with licensed staff.

The position offers a remote-friendly setup with a set Thursday-Sunday schedule (4PM–3AM CT) and shift differentials. California residency is preferred due to business needs.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Active, unrestricted behavioral health license in home state.
• 2+ years of clinical experience post-master's.
• Familiarity with EAP services and crisis protocols.
• Dedicated home workspace with secure high-speed internet.

Responsibilities

• Take inbound calls in a call center environment and perform telephonic assessments.
• Use Solution Focused Consultation and Motivational Interviewing to develop action plans.
• Refer to employer, community, and cross-carrier resources as needed.
• Assess risk to self or others and screen for co-morbidities.
• Provide guidance and information to colleagues; mentor less experienced staff.
• Consult with licensed staff on high-risk situations and act as NPOC for non-licensed specialists.
