The role requires 7+ years hospital coding experience and 3-5 years in leadership, with AHIMA or AAPC certification.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hospital coding experience including inpatient coding.
• 3-5 years leadership experience managing coding operations or large coding teams.
• Active AHIMA or AAPC coding certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight of inpatient and outpatient coding operations.
• Manage coding Supervisors and staff.
• Monitor DNFB and operational KPIs.
• Oversee staffing, workload distribution, and queue management.
• Establish productivity and turnaround time expectations.
• Develop operational workflows that improve efficiency and customer service.
• Create and maintain up-to-date policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and clinical departments to identify and overcome roadblocks to effective coding practices.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and employee development activities.
• Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
• Collaborate with the Manager of Coding Quality & Education to align operational and quality priorities.
