Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Solution Architect to steer architecture across multiple engineering teams for the OnVUE platform. You will translate business needs into practical, scalable designs and guide discovery through deployment, influencing without formal authority.

The role emphasizes deep Java/cloud-native expertise, strong communication, and hands-on credibility to drive secure, reliable assessment delivery across the cloud.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• Strong Java enterprise architecture experience, including Spring and Spring Boot.
• Experience across front-end and back-end technologies, including Angular.
• Cloud-platform experience, preferably Azure; AWS is also relevant.
• Kubernetes, containers, orchestration and cloud-native delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture from discovery through implementation and production adoption.
• Translate business needs into secure, scalable, maintainable designs.
• Set technical direction across squads and maintain consistency across the OnVUE footprint.
• Guide engineering teams through implementation while preserving architectural intent.
• Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, resilience, security and business value.
• Resolve complex architecture and integration issues; escalate where needed.
• Establish repeatable technical patterns and ensure conformance with standards.
• Mentor engineers and architects and communicate recommendations clearly.
