Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist in Solution Architecture to guide multi‑team engineering efforts for the OnVUE platform. You will translate business needs into scalable designs, set direction across squads, and ensure architectural alignment through delivery and production adoption.

The role emphasizes deep Java and cloud‑native skills, strong judgement, and the ability to influence without formal authority in a remote‑friendly US context.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• Strong Java enterprise architecture experience including Spring and Spring Boot.
• Cross‑stack experience across front‑end and back‑end, including Angular.
• Cloud platform experience (Azure preferred; AWS also relevant).
• Kubernetes, containers, orchestration, cloud-native delivery.
• Experience designing and scaling reliable distributed apps with strong operational health.
• Evidence of leading technical decisions across multiple teams without formal authority.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, documentation and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture from discovery and design through implementation and production adoption.
• Translate business needs, constraints and technical requirements into secure, scalable and maintainable designs.
• Set technical direction across squads and maintain consistency across the OnVUE footprint.
• Guide engineering teams through implementation while preserving architectural intent.
• Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, resilience, security, maintainability and integration risk.
• Resolve complex architecture and build issues, escalating when needed.
• Establish repeatable technical patterns and ensure conformance with standards.
• Mentor engineers and architects and communicate recommendations clearly.
