Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Lead Software Engineer to architect backend services, APIs, and platform integrations that power CenterWell's AI stack. You will set security standards, enable HIPAA-compliant patterns, and guide API design across teams.

You will also drive AI-enabled API patterns, implement observability, and contribute to full-stack work with TypeScript/Next.js, ensuring scalable, secure production systems that serve care teams and patients nationwide.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in CS or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of software engineering, backend and platform
• Strong TS and/or Python for API development
• Proven track record building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs
• Solid understanding of OAuth2, OIDC, and API security patterns
• Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements for PHI handling
• Experience with Next.js/React for full-stack contributions
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools and LLMs

Responsibilities

• Design and lead development of core backend services and APIs
• Establish security/authentication patterns and HIPAA-compliant design
• Define AI integration patterns for product APIs and tooling
• Build observability, logging, and reliability for scale
• Contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js
• Drive architecture reviews and set backend engineering standards
