Job summary

Thomas Young Group is an engineer-founded consulting firm that offers fully remote work within Colorado with monthly in-person meetups. Lead forensic investigations into building and structural failures, provide field assessments, and develop repair strategies.

We seek a Licensed PE - Civil or Structural with 8+ years of experience, strong communication, and an entrepreneurial mindset to mentor juniors, guide business development, and represent the firm in client meetings.

Qualifications

• Licensed PE in Civil or Structural engineering.
• 8+ years of engineering experience, preferably in forensic assessment or building diagnostics.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and failure mechanisms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple projects independently and engage with clients.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with autonomy, problem-solving and team growth.
• Experience in construction defects, insurance evaluations, or litigation support is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead forensic investigations into building and structural failures, storm damage, and construction issues.
• Conduct detailed field assessments and develop repair recommendations.
• Analyze documentation, drawings, and codes to identify causes of damage or failure.
• Prepare clear technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Manage projects from site evaluation through reporting and communication.
• Oversee budgets, timelines, and deliverables with accountability and ownership.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.
• Partner with leadership on business development and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the firm in meetings with clients, contractors, and legal professionals.
