Job summary

Commerce is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Backend to define the technical vision for the domain and deliver high-scale backend services. You will own end-to-end execution, influence architecture, and lead a cross-functional engineering team across cloud and on-prem workloads.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in backend development with PHP, deep MySQL expertise, and strong Linux/CI/CD experience, plus excellent communication to collaborate with multiple teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend programming experience with PHP required.
• Strong MySQL experience; good schema design, caching, and scalability.
• Experience with distributed systems and TCP/gRPC communication.
• Experience with Redis or Memcached caching.
• DevOps experience; CI/CD and containerization (Docker) preferred.
• Linux proficiency; exposure to cloud (GCP) and observability (OTel) preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; BS or higher in CS.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
