Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Lead Application Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership for cloud-native, API-first platforms. You will guide cross-functional teams across Azure services, Kafka-driven events, and microservices securing scalable, resilient digital health solutions.

You will mentor engineers, establish standards, and drive modernization roadmaps while aligning tech strategies with business goals and HIPAA considerations. Remote US work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of software engineering or enterprise architecture experience.
• 5+ years designing enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in microservices and API design.
• Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native development.
• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Knowledge of containerization with Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Hands-on CI/CD, DevSecOps practices, and automation tooling.
• Ability to lead teams and influence architecture across programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of enterprise-scale applications using microservices and cloud-native principles.
• Define target architectures and modernization roadmaps for strategic capabilities.
• Establish standards, reference architectures, and engineering best practices.
• Drive API-first architecture and enterprise integration strategies.
• Lead architecture reviews, governance, and technology evaluations.
• Design and implement scalable Azure-based solutions with AKS, App Services, API Management, and more.
• Design event-driven architectures with Kafka; govern messaging patterns and real-time integration.
• Promote IaC and GitOps; guide Argo CD, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps usage.
• Mentor teams, run design sessions, and ensure security, performance, and reliability.
