Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Layout Designer / Layout Engineer to support design and coordination of process equipment layouts for semiconductor fabrication and high-tech facilities. You will work under senior layout staff to develop code-compliant, constructible layouts that meet schedule, safety, and quality goals.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering or related field and 2+ years in semiconductor/cleanroom projects; proficiency in AutoCAD and exposure to Revit are desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline or equivalent layout experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor, high-tech, cleanroom, tool install projects.
• Knowledge of layout philosophies: product line, process layout, cellular manufacturing.
• Interest in tool hookup design and facility modification in semiconductor environments.
• Ability to read and mark up drawings with focus on constructability and safety.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.
• Exposure to Automated Material Handling systems is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and follow technical issues through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning production facilities and equipment layouts.
• Interpret supplier equipment drawings and develop CAD blocks or Revit RFAs.
• Support development of manufacturing process layouts based on client tool quantities and priorities.
• Assist with design calculations, routing evaluations, and technical assessments.
• Prepare drawings, models, and documentation for tool connections and utilities.
• Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, vendors, and contractors.
• Attend design reviews and client meetings; capture comments and revise.
• Participate in site walks and verify field conditions.
• Document risks related to schedule, safety, and operational continuity.
• Compile as-built information and closeout documentation.
• Follow client safety protocols and cleanroom requirements.
• Build knowledge of NFPA and NEC layout restrictions.
