Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Layout Designer in Bellevue, WA for a contract role combining CAD drafting and design support across a 14-month preconstruction lifecycle. You’ll develop floor plans for industrial modules, coordinate with project teams, and manage documentation through the handoff to construction.

The role emphasizes AutoCAD/Revit proficiency, strong stakeholder communication, and ability to handle long lifecycle projects from site selection to handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a relevant design/engineering field or equivalent.
• 2+ years hands-on AutoCAD experience in professional design/drafting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for floor plans, module design, and composite drawings.
• Experience with Revit for design coordination and documentation.
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders on large commercial/industrial projects.
• Facility/layout and floor plan design experience for industrial environments.
• Ability to manage design projects through extended lifecycles from preconstruction to handoff.
• Strong documentation skills for meetings, repositories, and project records.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD drafting support for composite designs and revisions.
• Hold design review calls with stakeholders and track follow-up actions.
• Draft module drawings from SIM tickets and translate requirements into precise layouts.
• Review SIM tickets for completeness and provide feedback to improve documentation.
• Create and modify module drawings, maintain version control across documents.
• Attend team meetings and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and architects.
• Communicate timelines, risks, and design constraints to manage stakeholder expectations.
• Manage design activities through a 14-month lifecycle from concept to handoff.
• Document project specifics from site selection and transaction management.
• Research site data including surveys, existing drawings, and site visits.
• Coordinate architectural/engineering specs including transportation and internal standards.
• Coordinate initial design packages and permit submittals for timely approvals.
• Develop supporting documents for lease execution (site plans, letters, schedules, phasing).
• Create construction schedules and phasing sequences as needed.
• Create construction cost estimates based on design information.
• Manage due diligence and utility coordination before handoff.
• Provide complete handoff documentation and landlord contribution details.
• Maintain a repository of preconstruction work for each site.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across large projects and sites.
• Apply facility layout principles for industrial modules and interiors.
