Job summary

micro1 is a data lab that partners with AI labs to build and evaluate training data for complex legal domains. We seek a Law Review Cite-Checker to review citations, apply Bluebook rules, and create sample tasks for a remote project.

Ideal candidates are current law students (2L/3L) or recent JD graduates with law journal experience and strong editorial judgment. This role is remote, contract-based, and pays hourly.

Qualifications

• Current law student (2L or 3L) or recent JD graduate.
• Law review or law journal experience, ideally including a cite-checking or source-collection role.
• Strong knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.
• Ability to explain why a citation is wrong; reasoning matters as much as the correction.
• Careful and consistent across long sessions of detailed review work.
• Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines without close supervision.
• Experience as a journal editor is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review Bluebook rubrics and flag unclear, incomplete, or inconsistently applied rules.
• Identify edge cases not covered by rubrics and recommend how to handle them.
• Create sample cite-checking tasks: source material with citations containing realistic errors, plus explanations.
• Build tasks across citation types and difficulty levels, from formatting errors to pincite issues.
• Apply Bluebook rules consistently across all submissions.
• Flag ambiguous cases to project coordinators instead of resolving them silently.
• Deliver assigned work on schedule and at the required quality level.
