Job summary

The Language Testing Specialist at Center for Applied Linguistics develops and revises test items for large-scale English language proficiency assessments for grades 1–12. You will draft linguistic content, graphics descriptions, and scoring notes while incorporating stakeholder feedback and ensuring content accuracy.

The role supports item reviews, quality control, and cross-team collaboration. Qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s in a relevant field, experience with K-12 ELs, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 2+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with K-12 English learners in U.S. contexts preferred.
• Experience developing test items for K-12 students (multiple choice and constructed response).

Responsibilities

• Research and write test items aligned to specifications and revise per feedback.
• Evaluate and revise test materials, providing feedback to consultants and team members.
• Write and refine graphics descriptions to aid student comprehension.
• Coordinate item development tasks with external consultants to ensure timely delivery.
• Analyze data from pilot and field test activities to inform revisions.
