Job summary

University Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a part-time, temporary student assistant to support the Landslide Mapping Unit within the California Geological Survey.

The role focuses on collecting, managing, analyzing, and interpreting geologic and landslide data using GIS tools and published maps. Work is Monday–Friday with flexible hours, up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.

Qualifications

• Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable).
• Enrolled in six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduates.

Responsibilities

• Populate the Regional Landslide Database and inventories with reported landslide events and climate data.
• Compile landslide mapping from published geologic maps for inventories.
• Digitize geologic features and geolocate landslide reports with ArcGIS experience.
• Assist with project layout and style file development.
• Contribute to slope stability and climatic modeling potentially using Python, Fortran or R; field work may be available.
