Job summary

IBM United Kingdom Limited is seeking an Associate Technical Support Engineer for Confluent to diagnose and resolve complex distributed system issues. You will work with Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform, and containerised environments in a remote-capable setting.

In this role you’ll investigate incidents, communicate clearly with customers, and collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Support to improve reliability. Remote work is supported across the UK with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems using a logical, methodical approach.
• Strong diagnostic skills across logs, metrics, configurations, and customer environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous and technically challenging problems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve customer issues across production and non-production environments.
• Troubleshoot distributed systems, Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform, customer applications, and integrations.
• Support analysis and resolution of incidents and escalations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Support teams to improve outcomes.
• Document troubleshooting steps and best practices in knowledge bases.
• Participate in on-call rotations and team projects for tooling improvements.
