Job summary

VivSoft Technologies LLC is seeking a Junior Software Developer to support the Coast Guard COMPASS program. You will develop and sustain Angular front-end and Node.js services for C5I-Home and VDS eStorefront, working in an Agile team with emphasis on secure coding and quality.

The role involves implementing user stories, integrating with Login.gov/Pay.gov, and ensuring accessibility and CI/CD readiness, with potential after-hours support and travel to support Coast Guard operations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional web application experience.
• Experience with Angular, React, Vue, or a similar modern front-end framework.
• Proficiency with TypeScript or JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
• Working knowledge of Node.js and developing or consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
• Experience using Git-based version control and merge request workflows.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests.
• Familiarity with secure software development and secure coding principles.
• Experience in an Agile or Scrum software development environment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/US Coast Guard suitability determination for a Moderate Risk Public Trust position (Tier 2 / SF-85P).
• Ability to support core working hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
• Ability to provide occasional after-hours support for production releases or incidents.
• No degree required; relevant professional experience may be accepted in place of formal education.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Angular front-end components and Node.js services for C5I-Home and VDS eStorefront.
• Implement sprint-committed user stories, enhancements, defects, and maintenance tickets.
• Support PostgreSQL data integrations and interfaces with Login.gov and Pay.gov.
• Write clean, secure, maintainable code following OWASP guidance.
• Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities from CI/CD and security scans.
• Write and maintain automated unit tests and support QA testing.
• Assist senior engineers with troubleshooting production incidents and defects.
• Submit merge requests and participate in peer code reviews.
• Support deployment and promotion of builds across environments.
• Ensure UI functionality complies with Section 508 accessibility.
• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives.
• Maintain accurate work item status and technical documentation.
• Support monthly maintenance releases and government demonstrations/ UAT.
• Use government-approved AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Provide occasional after-hours support for releases/incidents.
