Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Junior Security Engineer to join our 24x7 enterprise cybersecurity operations in a remote role. The position involves monitoring security tools, initial incident triage, containment support, and collaboration on vulnerabilities and compliance.

You will work under senior guidance to follow runbooks and document activities. Qualifications include 1+ year in cybersecurity operations, familiarity with security tools and cloud concepts, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, security governance, or enterprise security program support.
• Experience with security tools, monitoring systems, or ticketing platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and security runbooks.
• Familiarity with cloud (AWS/Azure) and basic network security concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7x365 support for enterprise cybersecurity operations under senior guidance.
• Perform basic containment activities: access changes, configuration updates, and allow/block list management.
• Support vulnerability management, remediation tracking, and compliance.
• Assist with ISVM tracking, POA&M, and incident documentation.
• Maintain and update incident records and runbooks for auditability and knowledge management.
• Support testing/validation of patches, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Assist with spill response activities and follow procedures to aid containment and recovery.
• Provide cross‑platform support across cloud, OS, databases, and network security infrastructure.
