Job summary

Prezzatura is seeking a Java Developer to sustain, enhance, and modernize mission-critical applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role spans legacy systems and modern architectures, bridging old and new with REST/SOAP services, Java 17+, Spring Boot, and microservices.

You will design, implement, and optimize enterprise Java solutions, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–7 years of software development experience
• Strong experience with Java development
• Experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot
• Experience developing REST APIs and web services
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases
• Experience using Git-based source control
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
• Design and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations
• Develop and maintain modern backend services utilizing Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
