TEKsystems is seeking a senior software architect to lead technical architecture for complex applications in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on hands-on design, architecture and delivery across distributed environments, guiding teams to build robust, secure and scalable solutions that align with modernization goals.

Requires 10+ years in software development, 2+ years as architect, strong AWS and Java expertise, and leadership/mentoring skills. Fully remote work option with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of Java development.
• 2+ years in an Architect role.
• 3+ years of AWS experience.
• Experience with Microservices & Serverless architecture.
• Relational and NoSQL databases and messaging experience.
• Strong AWS experience with security, networking, deployment and cost awareness.
• Scripting skills: Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• CI/CD tools: GitHub, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, CodeBuild.
• Java expertise with refactoring and performance tuning.
• Mentoring and leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, recommend, implement and manage the technical architecture for distributed applications.
• Design, document and implement components and layers for complex software.
• Collaborate with development teams to estimate, plan, design and deliver software.
• Mentor team members in design and engineering practices.
• Participate in code reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to architectural standards and security practices.
• Lead architecture elaboration at project start and evolve non-functional requirements.
• Guide architecture evolution during construction.
• Establish and govern standards across projects.
• Participate in pre-sales architecture and effort estimation.
• Learn and apply new patterns and technologies.
