Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking an IT Systems Administration Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for a SaaS-focused IT team delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing application services across the Department.

The role supervises a six-person team, guiding daily operations while planning for growth and innovation, ensuring security standards and collaboration with stakeholders to evolve SaaS solutions.

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible experience in system administration of enterprise SaaS and COTS applications.
• Experience leading IT staff and projects, guiding technical teams and overseeing delivery.
• Experience managing complex IT environments with multiple integrated systems.
• Experience implementing security, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience coordinating with vendors and enforcing SLAs.
• Strong communication skills with non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SaaS Applications team ensuring availability, security, and performance.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
• Allocate resources, set priorities, and hold regular team meetings.
• Promote cross-training and recognize high performance, and address issues promptly.
• Develop strategy and service plans for resources, training, and tiered support.
• Manage quality, accountability, productivity, and timely delivery of services.
• Recommend improvements to the Service Delivery Manager and implement changes.
• Coordinate with staff, customers, management, external agencies and vendors.
• Plan lifecycle management and improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
