Job summary

State of Washington's Department of Ecology seeks an IT Data Management - Journey to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and actionable insights for TCP. You will transform complex program data into reliable information, guide governance, and empower staff with data tools.

The role blends SQL development, BI reporting (SSRS/Power BI), data stewardship, governance, and collaboration with IT and program staff. Telework-eligible hybrid role from Lacey, WA.

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience/education required.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and optimize SQL queries for reporting.
• Create and maintain data models, dashboards, and ad hoc reports.
• Develop data quality routines, audits, and validation processes.
• Translate business rules into technical specifications and docs.
• Apply data standards, access conventions, and governance practices.
• Collaborate with staff to tailor data solutions and provide guidance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and data structures.
• Build BI reports and dashboards using SSRS and Power BI.
• Serve as data steward for TCP databases and document business rules.
• Design data quality monitoring, validation and QA/QC processes.
• Manage user access and permissions with IT and security.
• Support system updates and IT projects affecting data.
• Provide informal training and guidance on data standards and tools.
• Maintain documentation for queries, reports and data processes.
