Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking an Instructional Design Assistant to support microcredential and digital learning initiatives. The role collaborates with faculty and partners to design curricula, create learning materials, and ensure alignment with WVU standards within the LMS.

You will assist with portal administration, learner support, and documentation, contributing to the continuous improvement of WVU’s microcredential framework in a remote work environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in instructional design, education, educational technology, curriculum and instruction, communications, information systems, or a related field.
• A minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with subject matter experts to design, develop, and revise microcredential curricula following instructional design best practices.
• Assists faculty and program personnel in creating effective learning materials, assessments, multimedia, and learner experiences.
• Supports the development, organization, and quality assurance of online instructional materials within the LMS, ensuring alignment with microcredential requirements and WVU standards.
• Develops support resources—including best-practice guides, timelines, and evaluation tools—to promote consistent implementation of microcredential offerings.
• Serves as an administrator of the learner registration and management portal which hosts microcredential offerings and connects to the WVU LMS.
