What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation for accurate ICD-10 coding
- Verify coding assignments based on physician documentation and compliance with coding guidelines
- Communicate effectively with physicians and health personnel regarding documentation needs
- Discuss coding optimization and documentation issues with relevant clinical staff
- Apply various coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG) and understand their impact on clinical quality and reimbursement

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma and two years of coding education (medical coding certificate program or 2-year HIM program)
- Three or more years of inpatient hospital coding experience, including specialized coding skills
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and pathophysiology

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with specialized coding cases such as cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, and trauma surgery
- Strong understanding of Medicare payment systems and coding regulations
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff
