Job summary

Solventum is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDI) to review inpatient records for accurate and compliant documentation, ensuring proper severity of illness, ROM, and reimbursement. You will work with physicians and coding staff to improve documentation quality and DRG integrity across inpatient cases.

Role requires RN licensure with a bachelor’s degree and 7 years of nursing experience, plus 5 years in inpatient acute care.

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license with a bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
• Seven (7) years of Nursing experience
• Five (5) years of experience in the inpatient acute care setting
• Experience auditing practices, ICD 10, PCS guidelines, quality initiatives, and MS-DRG and APR DRG methodologies
• Clinical knowledge and application to coding
• Experience in CCDS, CCS, or CDIP with seven years of clinical documentation/DRG validator
• Knowledge of Solventum HIS software portfolio (e.g., 360 Encompass)
• Additional qualifications include telecommuting, EMRs, and strong MS Office skills

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to ensure accurate, complete documentation reflecting SOI, ROM, quality outcomes, medical necessity, and reimbursement.
• Collaborate with physicians and coding staff to improve documentation quality and DRG integrity.
• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews for documentation accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain an accuracy rate of 98% and productivity targets of 20–25 cases per day.
• Initiate compliant physician queries to clarify documentation gaps.
• Monitor documentation trends related to mortality and quality indicators.
• Conduct clinical validation reviews for high-risk conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, and AKI.
