Job summary

Planet is hiring an Infrastructure Solutions Engineer to make our infrastructure easier to use. You will bridge between platform capabilities and engineering teams, writing modules in Go and Python, building Terraform and Helm tooling, and improving observability.

This is a full-time remote role based in the United States, with potential office days if nearby. You’ll engage with multiple teams to migrate workloads, resolve blockers, and deliver scalable infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related infra discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting workloads on Kubernetes in production.
• Experience operating in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience using Terraform, Crossplane, and GitOps tooling with CI/CD (GitLab).
• Proficiency in Go or Python for automation and tooling.
• Strong ability to drive cross-functional projects and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for cross-engineering infrastructure requests and blockers.
• Execute complex workload and storage migrations across cloud environments with repeatable playbooks.
• Drive scoped technical deliverables within engagements and collaborate with capability owners.
• Develop infrastructure tooling, Terraform modules, Helm charts, CLIs, and client libraries in Go and Python.
• Create documentation, runbooks, and examples to reduce recurring support queries.
• Instrument observability dashboards to provide visibility into infrastructure cost, capacity, and usage.
