Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Infrastructure Administrator to support enterprise physical and virtual environments, including cloud and on-prem platforms.

You will deploy, automate, monitor, and support servers and applications while collaborating with vendors, development teams, and IT staff to deliver reliable operations. Based in the Phoenix area or within commuting distance, you will participate in change and incident management, maintain security and backups, and stay current with

Qualifications

• Knowledge of server/storage hardware and protocols (NFS, iSCSI).
• Demonstrated scripting and automation skills (Perl, Bash, PHP, Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.).
• Basic understanding of security concepts (Active Directory, NTFS permissions, security auditing, security contexts).
• Understanding of cloud storage, network, and hardware technologies.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and recommends performance improvements to ensure high availability of infrastructure.
• Serves as an escalation point for technical issues at the team level.
• Participates in the implementation of agreed-upon solutions and strategies.
• Works with Storage & Virtualization Engineers to configure and troubleshoot application servers and the software running on them.
• Participates in deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of applications developed by different development groups.
• Handles ongoing maintenance such as service pack installations and software upgrades.
• Documents technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
• Participates in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
• Follows change and incident management policies and procedures.
• Stays current on industry trends and new technologies and recommends future initiatives.
• Oversees administration functions such as server builds, monitoring, patch/security updates, antivirus, backups, restores, asset management, 24x7 support, pager duty, etc.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
