Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer for a remote role focused on improving manufacturing processes from East London, Eastern Cape, ZA. You will analyze data, identify bottlenecks, and implement Lean-based improvements to boost efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, 3+ years in manufacturing, and strong data interpretation skills. CAD or process simulation experience is a plus; remote collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience with CAD software or process simulation tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with automotive manufacturing standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
• Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to track performance and measure the impact of changes.
• Design and optimize workflows, workstations, and material handling systems.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to implement and sustain process improvements.
• Conduct time studies and work measurement to establish standard times and improve labor productivity.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
• Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization and waste elimination.
• Prepare reports and present findings and recommendations to management.
