Job summary

Our client, a leading Canadian financial advisory and accounting practice, seeks a Manager, Indigenous Advisory Services to lead and scale the Indigenous Services practice. The role involves fractional controller duties and remote flexibility, reporting to practice leadership.

You will oversee month-end close, multi-entity fund accounting, audit prep, and staff coaching, with responsibilities across First Nations governments and related entities.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required (CA, CGA, CMA).
• Public practice or controllership background with month-end close and year-end audit prep experience.
• Strong working knowledge of PSAS/ASNPO, fund accounting, and government funding structures.
• Experience with cloud accounting platforms (QBO, Sage, Xero) and audit exposure with First Nations clients is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run disciplined month-end and year-end closes for Indigenous clients.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and cash management; perform backlog cleanups.
• Prepare year-end audit files and PBC lists; coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage multi-entity and fund accounting across diverse government-related entities.
• Design internal controls and coach junior staff.
