Job summary

CapNexus is seeking an overnight, remote Operations Specialist to maintain client production environments, run backups, monitor jobs, and perform incident reporting and escalation to the programming team as needed.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on IBM i (AS/400) operations, strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to work independently on a fixed 4‑day, 10‑hour night schedule (Wed–Sat ET), with weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on IBM i (AS/400) operations experience.
• Hands-on experience in an operations environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and on a fixed overnight schedule.

Responsibilities

• Monitor core systems and scheduled jobs during the shift.
• Perform backups, tape handling, and tape library tasks.
• Escalate issues to the programming team as needed.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate with on-call staff for escalations and coverage.
