Job summary

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp is seeking a Senior Mechanical R&D Engineer in Houston, TX. The role focuses on designing and advancing solar tracker technologies and automated assembly equipment within a cross-functional team.

The position is hybrid, based in Houston, with up to 4 days in-office and up to 20% travel. Requires a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years in product development, CAD, and FEA. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent (advanced degrees valued).
• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on product development and R&D.
• 5+ years’ experience with SolidWorks or an equivalent CAD package.
• Experience with static structural finite element analysis software, Ansys or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop new solar tracker and installation automation products from concept to commercialization.
• Perform hands-on testing of prototype products in laboratory and field conditions.
• Develop 3D CAD models and detailed product drawings utilizing SolidWorks and Ansys for FEA.
• Develop standards, create specifications and testing requirements, review test results.
• Assist with installation/maintenance manuals and product documentation.
• Engage with suppliers to optimize designs around manufacturing capabilities
• Travel up to 20% and collaborate with cross-functional teams
