Job summary

MasTec is seeking a skilled HVAC/Telecom Technician to join our team. The technician performs field service maintenance, remedial, and emergency repair on telecommunication and data centers, focusing on HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities include maintaining commercial cooling systems in cell tower units, performing upgrades, reading electrical ladders, and ensuring safe work practices. Extensive travel, on-call duties, and a company vehicle are provided.

Qualifications

Experience with HVAC systems in telecom environments or data centers.
Ability to read and understand electrical ladder schematics.
Basic plumbing knowledge related to sump pumps.
Strong knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
Valid driver’s license with clean record.
Knowledge of HVAC codes and proper application.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and by email.
Willingness to be on call and travel extensively.
Comfort working solo or in teams.
EPA 608 refrigerant certification (types 1,2,3) and Universal refrigerant card.

Responsibilities

Maintaining commercial cooling systems on cell tower cooling units (diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing and replacing components).
Performing additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
Demonstrating competency with installation and diagnostics to complete services professionally.
Replace or install forced air heating and air conditioning systems.
Replace or install complete hydronic heating systems or refrigeration equipment.
Install or replace duct systems in telecommunication shelters.
Test electrical circuits and components for continuity.
Test pipe/tubing joints for leaks.
Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment.
Troubleshoot low-voltage control systems.
Understand underground gas monitoring systems.
Complete all necessary safety and technical training.
Maintain safe work practices.
