Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Controls Specialist / Controls Systems Engineer to support a federal program operating on U.S. embassies and DoD sites outside the continental United States (OCONUS). The role is virtual/remote from anywhere in the United States with heavy international travel (about 80%).

You will lead HVAC controls projects, program and commission systems, and provide training and documentation while ensuring safety and quality across multinational sites. A DoD clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hands-on commissioning and/or programming of digital HVAC control systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls, facilities management, site installation and servicing techniques.
• Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems and equipment.
• Proficient with MS Office and Windows environment.
• Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to travel approximately 80% to international/national locations, not to war zones.
• U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite project leadership to execute HVAC controls and other Building Automation System projects safely and cost-effectively.
• Program, install coordination, system and network commissioning, training and project closeout.
• Install hardware designs and program software to established standards and communicate design to customers and subcontractors.
• Load, verify, and commission all system controllers and produce as-built and commissioning documentation.
• Test and modify systems software.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and technical assistance to subcontractors and owners/operators.
• Perform site-specific training for owners/operators and prepare operation manuals.
• Follow safety standards and maintain high regard for safety.
