Job summary

Killeen ISD seeks a Teacher Orchestra Director for the 2026-2027 school year to lead high school orchestras district-wide. The role reports to the Principal and Director for Fine Arts and requires a Texas music teaching certificate with a focus on orchestral instruction.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred), and prior head orchestra experience at 5-A or 4-A levels, or equivalent leadership in a large high school program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Prior head orchestra experience at the 5-A or 4-A level preferred, or extensive experience as an assistant director in a leading high school program.

Responsibilities

• Directs high school orchestral ensembles.
• Organizes and plans performances for campus and other events.
• Organizes, plans and executes summer string rehearsals and/or summer string classes.
• Sets goals for the high school and feeder middle school orchestra programs and recommends instructional practices for continuous improvement.
• Prepares for and participates in UIL contests and functions.
