Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate.
• Judicial law clerk, litigation, or hearing officer experience.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency with technology including data management software, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, and video/VoIP tools.

Responsibilities

• Presides as hearing officer in administrative ad valorem tax appeal proceedings and drafts proposed decisions and orders.
• Schedules and conducts hearings involving complex legal, procedural, and technical issues.
• Administers oaths, examines witnesses, rules on evidence, and issues discovery orders.
• Analyzes testimony and other evidence.
• Applies relevant law to cases.
• Performs related work and adheres to agency policies.
• Conforms to ex parte communication and ethics guidelines.
• Follows agency policies on appeals administration and scheduling.
• Occasional statewide travel may be required.
