Job summary

Civicworks in Indiana is seeking a Hearing Officer for the Indiana Department of Revenue's legal team to resolve taxpayer appeals through written determinations and negotiated settlements.

You will conduct administrative hearings, perform legal research on Indiana tax law, and serve as an impartial decision maker evaluating taxpayer arguments, with responsibilities to advise other DOR sections to ensure compliance with Indiana tax law.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed and active in good standing to practice law in Indiana.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn Indiana tax law and federal/state/local legal procedures.
• Experience conducting legal research and analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Self-directed problem solver with ability to work collaboratively.
