Job summary

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Senior Consultant to support payment model implementation contracts with analytics, policy analysis, and operations oversight. You will work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. with in-office requirements in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C.

for some roles. Responsibilities include leading project teams, cultivating client relationships, and delivering high-quality analytical deliverables.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience using SQL, R, Python, or SAS in a research, consulting, or business environment.
• 4+ years of experience working on federal health policy issues, including Medicare and Medicaid value-based payment, working in multiple areas serving as a subject matter expert.
• Experience translating complex findings to non-technical audiences in both written and verbal contexts.
• Experience successfully leading cross-functional project teams.
• Experience working on implementing or evaluating value-based payment programs.
• Experience working in Snowflake or Databricks environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and coordinate analytics to support strategic initiatives.
• Engage and cultivate existing client relationships through policy consultation and thought leadership.
• Oversee payment model operations and analytics to inform model performance for value-based care initiatives.
• Develop payment calculations, perform financial and trend analyses, and address client needs with ad-hoc analyses.
• Mentor staff to develop analytical skills and maintain accuracy on tasks.
• Query large healthcare data sets to inform Medicare/Medicaid payment models.
