Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to support cash management, receivables, reconciliations, and month-end close in a healthcare setting. You will process cash-related transactions, maintain records, and assist with audits while collaborating with a broad finance team.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of accounting/finance experience, with remote work offered for the Hampton Roads region.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year in accounting/finance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile cash-related transactions, deposits, adjustments, and accounts receivable activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation to ensure integrity of financial information.
• Perform routine account reconciliations and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies within the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation by gathering required documentation and supporting financial reporting requests.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, and healthcare finance standards.
• Partner with internal departments, finance teams, and external vendors to resolve questions, research discrepancies, and support efficient financial operations.
