Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to join our healthcare finance team in a remote-capable role within the Hampton Roads area. You will handle cash-related transactions, accounts receivable, and routine reconciliations while supporting month-end close and audits.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and 1+ year in accounting or finance, with opportunities for shift bonuses and comprehensive benefits included in our package.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year or more in accounting, finance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile cash-related transactions, deposits, adjustments, and accounts receivable activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation to ensure integrity of financial information.
• Perform routine account reconciliations and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies within the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation by gathering required documentation and supporting financial reporting requests.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, and healthcare finance standards.
• Partner with internal departments, finance teams, and external vendors to resolve questions, research discrepancies, and support efficient financial operations.
