Job summary

University Medical Billing (UMB) is a fully remote department serving the University of Utah School of Medicine. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Auditor to audit medical coding, improve accuracy, and provide training on coding guidelines and proper documentation.

The role emphasizes collaboration, regulatory knowledge, and supporting multiple departments. Candidates should hold CPC/AAPC certification and have at least 1 year of related experience, with telecommuting aligned to Mountain Time.

Qualifications

• 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Medical Coding Quality Auditor (Healthcare), II requires at least 1 year of related experience.
• CPC, AAPC Certification is required.
• Minimum 6 years coding with progressive coding experience in multiple specialties.
• Minimum 2 years auditing.

Responsibilities

• Audit professional coding and billing across multiple medical and surgical departments for accuracy.
• Educate staff on clinical documentation requirements and regulatory rules.
• Research coding, regulatory and billing policies to ensure high quality auditing and education.
• Identify inaccurate coding practices and prepare reports on findings and risks.
• Perform ad hoc duties and meet performance standards.
