Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Remote Medical Coding Auditor to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of professional coding services. The role reviews patient records, collaborates with providers and compliance staff, and participates in audits to support proper reimbursement and regulatory adherence.

Strong coding certification and 2+ years in medical billing or coding are preferred. You'll maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer guidelines, and provide education

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years post-secondary education in a business/medical field preferred.
• Two years of medical billing or coding experience preferred.
• Certification through AAPC or AHIMA required (e.g., CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H).
• Experience with CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS and EHR systems beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records and coded data to identify discrepancies.
• Collaborate with providers, coders, and compliance teams to support accurate coding.
• Support appropriate reimbursement and mitigate compliance risks through detailed coding reviews.
• Conduct comprehensive chart reviews to evaluate coding accuracy and documentation quality.
• Evaluate provider documentation to ensure appropriate coding and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in routine audits to maintain high standards of coding accuracy and compliance.
• Provide education and training to healthcare professionals regarding coding standards.
• Analyze coding data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and compliance risks.
• Generate audit reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
