Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to join our healthcare finance team. You will process cash-related transactions, accounts receivable, and routine reconciliations while supporting day-to-day operations and month-end close activities in a large healthcare organization.

You will work with internal departments and external vendors to resolve discrepancies, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with internal controls and healthcare finance standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of accounting/finance experience or related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile cash-related transactions, deposits, adjustments, and accounts receivable activities in accordance with policies.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation to ensure integrity of financial information.
• Perform routine account reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies in the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and documentation.
• Assist with audit preparation by gathering required documentation and supporting financial reporting requests.
• Monitor compliance with internal controls and healthcare finance standards, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors.
