Job summary

Jobgether SRL is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to oversee the integrity and governance of patient health information in a remote, Pacific Time‑hour aligned environment. The role collaborates with clinical, operational, compliance, legal, and quality teams to ensure HIPAA, retention, and accreditation standards are met.

Responsibilities include record management, audits, release of information, and education on documentation best practices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in health information management or related healthcare operations.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Proven accuracy and attention to detail in record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, organize, and monitor electronic and paper medical records for completeness and regulatory compliance.
• Review records for missing documentation and coordinate corrections.
• Support record set management and maintenance of legal medical records.
• Conduct routine medical record quality reviews and audits; assist with corrective actions.
• Process release of information requests from patients, providers, and regulators.
• Verify identities and applicable legal requirements before releasing protected health information.
• Coordinate responses to subpoenas and audits while maintaining disclosure documentation.
• Monitor HIPAA/privacy compliance and retention standards across departments.
• Identify risks in documentation, privacy, or health information management practices.
• Monitor data quality within EHR/EMR systems and assist departments with questions.
• Identify recurring deficiencies and suggest process improvements.
• Collaborate on medical record workflows with clinical, operational, product, and technology teams.
• Support scanning, indexing, retention, and other records-management processes.
• Provide guidance to staff on medical record requirements and release procedures.
• Respond professionally to internal/external requests while upholding confidentiality.
