Job summary

LMH Health in Kansas is seeking a Coder I to perform accurate coding, abstracts, and claims processing from medical records. You will stay current with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS guidelines, and work with the HIMS team to ensure compliant data and timely reimbursements.

This remote role requires attention to detail, ability to focus amid interruptions, and adherence to hospital policies. On-site meetings may be required; applicants must live in Kansas or Missouri.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of AHIMA-accredited coding programs (CCA/Coding Specialist/CPC/RHIT/RHIA) or equivalent.
• Credentialed through AAPC or currently pursuing credential.

Responsibilities

• Reviews inpatient and outpatient medical records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Uses computerized encoding to code per ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, UHDDS, and payer guidelines.
• Cross-trained to assist with backlog in focus-coding groups and ensures data quality for payment.
