Dartmouth College is seeking a Teaching Assistant (TAs) for Health Data Science to support faculty with delivering curriculum and facilitating discussions. The role is remote and part-time, with responsibilities spanning tutoring, grading support, and student feedback.

Successful candidates will have course content knowledge, strong communication skills, and experience in teaching or tutoring. Applicants must meet the college’s policy and background check requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of specific course content through satisfactory completion of course or equivalent course work or experience.
• Master’s degree in subject relevant to course.
• Previous experience in teaching, assistant teaching, or tutoring.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including listening skills.
• Consistently maintains a positive, patient, and encouraging attitude with students.
• Ability to provide tactful oral and written feedback.
• Ability to explain concepts and facilitate small group discussions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to demonstrate specific course-related software features for students, including Canvas, Zoom, Stata, RevMan, or EndNote.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.

Responsabilités

• Works closely with course faculty and program staff to develop and evaluate assignments and associated homework.
• Conducts and facilitates group discussions by encouraging critical analysis and evidence-based dialogue.
• Provides students assistance through tutoring and coaching.
• Assists course faculty with evaluating students’ work, including feedback and assigning grades, for individual and group assignments, examinations, participation, and attendance.
• Attends course sessions and assists instructor in class management, including organizing groups and facilitating discussions.
• May co-teach some sessions as appropriate.
• Supports class and classroom logistics.
