Dwight School seeks a Head of Upper School to oversee Grades 9–12, collaborating with deans, curriculum teams, and global Dwight networks. The HOUS will lead faculty recruitment, curricular development, accreditation efforts, and student support initiatives in a remote role with periodic travel to NYC.

The role emphasizes governance of academic integrity, disciplinary processes, college counseling collaboration, and building a healthy school culture across the Upper School community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and supervision of Grades 9–12 faculty.
• Collaborate with Curriculum & Instruction to develop and align the Upper School curriculum.
• Oversee Division and Grade Level meetings with vertical, horizontal, pastoral, and departmental planning.
• Coordinate scheduling and staffing for unique student situations.
• Oversee Upper Deans and help foster a healthy school culture through assemblies and advisories.
• Oversee the Upper School Orientation course and parent education programs.
• Foster academic honesty, intellectual curiosity, and ethical decision-making; reinforce original work and responsible scholarship.
• Coordinate the Honor Council to ensure fairness and integrity across academic and behavioral processes.
• Manage online proctoring review and disciplinary processes for academic honesty infractions.
• Manage the summer grade recovery process for Upper School students.
• Collaborate with College Counseling to provide personalized guidance for Grades 9–12; help integrate academic advising with college counseling; support standardized testing and college readiness.
• Oversee accommodations with Quest and Learning Support, ensuring Quest plans are implemented across departments.
• Assist with accreditation and authorization processes (Cognia, IB) and provide required evidence and data.
• Develop the Upper School Schedule in collaboration with the Scheduler; keep leadership informed on significant issues.
• Participate in admissions programs and cross-campus Dwight-Franklin collaborations.
• Review Upper School assessment data (AP, IB, PSAT) and use findings to improve curriculum and student success.
