Protingent Staffing is recruiting a Head of Internal Tools Engineering for a fully remote client engagement. You will architect, scale, and deliver internal platforms with API-first design, driving productivity and reducing friction across the organization.

Lead a high‑performing team, partner with stakeholders, and translate business needs into robust technical roadmaps. Focus on AI/automation, developer experience, reliability, security, and measurable ROI in a cloud‑native environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering leadership.
• Deep cloud, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and modern infrastructure understanding.
• Proven track record building and scaling internal tools or platforms for cross-functional teams.
• Experience making build-vs-buy decisions and managing a portfolio of tools.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end internal platform strategy and roadmap, treating internal technology as a product.
• Architect and maintain the full engineering lifecycle for internal platforms with API-first design.
• Lead AI and automation integration into internal workflows and platforms.
• Improve developer experience with standardized workflows and self-service capabilities.
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team; foster ownership and psychological safety.
• Collaborate with People, Finance, Legal, and Operations to align investments with company strategy.
