Job summary

Grüns is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to own and scale our data platform, overseeing a small team and guiding the enterprise data function. You will lead data modeling, pipelines, and governance to deliver trusted insights across the company.

You will drive AI-native practices, integrate ERP systems, and optimize costs while maintaining a high-trust data culture and a fast, scalable data architecture.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data architecture or data engineering
• 3+ years leading teams
• Experience building and scaling cloud data platforms (BigQuery or similar)
• Strong SQL, Python, and dbt (or similar) modeling
• Deep data modeling starting from business concepts
• Data quality, governance, and monitoring practices
• Sprint-based intake and prioritization for multiple stakeholders
• Familiarity with ELT tools (Fivetran, Orbitrail) and ERP systems
• Background in DTC or CPG preferred

Responsibilities

• Own the data roadmap and company data model with a single source of truth
• Refactor legacy jobs and tech debt for scalable platforms
• Keep pipelines resilient for accurate data
• Manage warehouse and infra costs as data grows
• Run intake process and sprint cadence prioritizing business impact
• Lead and coach a small team, provide hands-on when needed
• Integrate new enterprise systems (ERP) into the warehouse
• Make the team AI-native using AI agents for development and data quality
