Job summary

YouthBeat seeks a Grant Writer and Manager (part-time) to lead grants coordination, proposal development, and reporting. The role collaborates with the Executive Director, Development Manager, finance support, and program staff to translate YouthBeat’s work into funding requests.

We value Bay Area philanthropy experience, education and youth development focus. Position is primarily remote with periodic in-person Oakland meetings; compensation is $40–$50 per hour, typically 10–15 hours weekly,

Qualifications

• At least two to three years of nonprofit grant writing, grants coordination, or closely related experience.
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills to convey complex information persuasively.
• Ability to manage multiple proposals, reports, and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating with program and finance staff to develop narratives, outcomes, budgets, and supporting materials.
• Sound judgment in evaluating funder fit and balancing opportunity with organizational capacity.
• Ability to work independently and communicate proactively; occasional in-person meetings in Oakland.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar and tracking system for prospects, applications, renewals, and reports.
• Lead writing, editing, and submission of high-quality LOIs, proposals, renewals, and grant reports.
• Coordinate attachments, approvals, and online submissions to ensure complete applications and reports on time.
• Develop budgets and supporting materials with Executive Director and finance staff.
